Abstract

Education and the schooling process are ways that can contribute to the development of individuals' awareness of the environment. However, we have serious problems in school education, especially the poor quality of the teaching and learning process, a fact that comes from a number of factors, including deficiencies in both initial and continuing teacher training. There is, therefore, the need to contribute to teaching practice, enabling teachers to develop professional and alternative and / or innovative ways of working, with a view to improving teaching. From a collaborative action research related to the teaching practice in Environmental Education, a critical-reflexive process will be sought on the pedagogical practice of teachers working in a state public school and collectively construct educational actions related to this theme. Therefore, the paper presents an analysis of the researches carried out over the last 5 years (2012-2017) on the subject in question, as well as discusses the need and importance of action research, in particular, collaborative research-action for professional development and improvement of teaching performance in Environmental Education.
