The Revista Jurídica Portucalense (RJP), published by Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique (Porto, Portugal), invites applications for the position of Assistant Editor.

The RJP is a peer-reviewed law journal indexed in Scopus (Q1, SJR/Scimago) and in the Web of Science (Emerging Sources Citation Index). It publishes original research across the field of law in English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish.

Profile

Applicants must hold a doctorate in law. The Editorial Board is seeking researchers of demonstrable scholarly rigour, strong organisational ability, and a sustained commitment to academic publishing. Candidates whose expertise lies in criminal law, civil law, EU law, public international law, law of the sea, environmental law, administrative law, human rights law, tax law, private international law, corporate governance, and technology law are particularly welcomed.

Candidates should have prior experience of, or well-grounded familiarity with, peer review processes, and, wherever possible, acquaintance with editorial management platforms, in particular OJS or the RCAAP ecosystem.

Proficiency in English is essential. Command of any of the other languages in which the journal publishes is a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

Assistant Editors work alongside the Editor-in-Chief in the coordination of the peer review process, in correspondence with authors and reviewers, in manuscript handling, and in ensuring compliance with the journal's editorial standards and publication requirements.

What the Role Offers

The position is unpaid. It affords, nonetheless, a substantive opportunity to acquire first-hand experience of the editorial operations of an internationally indexed journal, to build connections with a broad community of legal scholars, and to contribute to a publication of increasing standing in the global legal academic landscape.

Applications

Interested candidates are invited to submit a letter of motivation and a current curriculum vitae to fcmoreira@upt.pt by 30 June 2026.
