La Humanisation in the Health Care services

The dictionary defines “to humanize”, in its first meaning, as turning someone or something human, familiar and affable. Thus,
a first approach to the term, brings to mind other related terms such as closeness, familiarity, friendliness, cordiality and even
sympathy, affection or compassion.
Therefore, considering the meaning of “to humanize” and the relationship between this term and the words that define it, its
application to the field of care, does not seem inappropriate, since any of the expressions that define it could be related to patient care.
Humanizing means to ensure respect for people and to treat them with dignity and therefore also encompasses ethical,
deontological and legal aspects of professional practice.
