Introduction: The decision not to resuscitate is a medical prescription, although nurses must be included in this, given their greater proximity and knowledge of the patient.
Objectives: Map the available evidence on Nurse involvement in the decision not to resuscitate.
Methods: Literature review, based on the methodological guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute for Scoping Reviews. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were established and databases were selected according to their suitability. The search strategy to be applied results from the combination of defined keywords and MeSH descriptors, Boolean operators and truncations. The results will be structured using the PRISMA flowchart. Data extraction will be obtained after applying the automatic method (RYYAN). The methodological quality of the studies included in the review will be assessed using the JBI MAStARY grid. The results obtained will be structured into tables and analyzed.
Results: These will be presented descriptively in tables, thus structuring the results obtained.
Conclusions: The elaboration of the protocol is important to plan the objectives, methods and guide the review, with the expectation of obtaining scientific evidence to answer the starting question and identify possible gaps in the existing literature. It is expected that this protocol will simplify and organize the performance of the scoping review and that it will be a facilitating instrument for the development of studies on Nurse Involvement in the Do Not Resuscitate Decision.
