Abstract

Introduction: Due to its complexity and high prevalence, chronic pain constitutes a priority phenomenon in nursing practice.

Objective/s: To map the evidence on the factors that underpin autonomous decision-making in Nursing in the assessment and management of chronic pain in adults.

Methods: This study consists of a scoping review protocol, developed in accordance with the guidelines for the preparation of systematic review protocols. The scoping review will be conducted following the methodology recommended by the Joanna Briggs Institute and will be guided by the Population, Concept, and Context framework. The presentation and reporting of the results will follow the specific guidelines for reporting scoping reviews.

Results: The results will be presented descriptively and with the use of tables.

Conclusion: It is expected that the results of the scoping review will contribute to identifying the elements that underpin autonomous decision-making in Nursing in the assessment and intervention related to chronic pain in adults.
