This poster aims to present a socio-cultural and sports “animation” project developed with inmates of the Alcoentre Prison.
The origin of the project is the work of a group of 3 students, held in July 2016, in Socio-cultural Methodologies Course Unit of the 2nd year of the Bachelor Degree of Social Education of the School of Education of Santarém, consisting of a dance activity, with a group of 20 inmates, counting on the collaboration of the social-cultural “animation” teacher and an invited dance and fitness teacher. Subsequently, at the request of the prison establishment, in December 2016, a group of the 3rd year of this course participated in the organization of the Christmas party in which about 250 inmates were present. In September 2017, a research project on socio-cultural and sports “animation” was presented to the Sport and Youth for Development Prize, awarded by the Portuguese and Youth Institute and by ANIMAR. This project won the prize in the category of Studies.
