Abstract

The current demographic changes brought challenges to society in general and the health systems in particular, for which they were not prepared. In this context the Intergenerational Programs emerged as a new methodology of social action. This study was developed following a scoping review with the question: ‘Which are the nursing interventions that promote the integration of the elderly in intergenerational activities?’ The search in reference databases for papers published between January 2015 and February 2019 was conducted using MeSH descriptors, combining as research strategy: Health Promotion AND Nurs* AND Intergenerational Relations AND Aged. The methodological quality of the selection process was guaranteed by following the PRISMA 2009 Flow Diagram. The results indicate that nursing interventions, which promote intergenerational activities with children, are enhancers of well-being and social inclusion, combating isolation and sedentary lifestyle.
