In this study, we did an analysis of a research done about the Interaction Equivalency Theorem (IET). Moreover, this research happened in an online academic context, where 207 students have participated. Using a mix methods approach, a questionnaire was applied to understand the interactions preferences of these participants within a specific course, which was complemented by content analysis. The results are similar to previous studies, however, the preferences for student-teacher interaction seem to have a cultural influence about the role of a teacher. Although, we have witnessed a great development in the research done about the IET, a few challenges are identified to refine its thesis.
