The term Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been widely applied in several areas, such as computer science, engineering, and healthcare. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, AI can be defined as the ability of computers, or other machines, to display or simulate intelligent behavior; being designed to produce results, which was previously associated with human intelligence.
In the current era of the fourth industrial revolution, characterised by an exponential increase in the digitalization of society and the economy, we have seen a transformation in healthcare. With demographic ageing resulting in the need for access to health care on the one hand, and the shortage of health professionals on the other, how can we continue to guarantee health care to the entire population?
