Introduction: Motivational theories can provide a deeper understanding of human needs and the factors that influence behavior, which can help improve clinical supervision strategies for nurses. Motivational theories can also assist nurses in creating a more positive, healthy, and productive work environment, fostering greater motivation and commitment to service and the organization itself.
Objective: To map the scientific evidence on motivational strategies to integrate clinical supervision.
Methods: Scoping Review following the methodology proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute. A scoping review protocol was defined, taking into account the established criteria and the suitability for the proposed databases/repositories. The databases to conduct the search will be CINAHL® Plus with Full Text (via EBSCO); MEDLINE Complete, Nursing and Allied Health Collection; MedicLatina; Cochrane Plus Collection, including the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR), OpenGrey and the Portuguese Open Access Scientific Repository. The relevance analysis of the articles, data extraction, and synthesis will be conducted by two independent reviewers. Article selection will follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses extension for scope reviews (PRISMA-ScR).
Results: The results will be presented descriptively, using tables, considering the objective and focus of the scoping review. It is expected that this scoping review will allow the analysis and systematization of studies related to evidence-based practice instruments validated for the Portuguese population, promoting the use of appropriate and accurate measurement instruments, thus enhancing the operationalization of evidence-based practice in Portugal.
Conclusion: It is expected that these motivational strategies will contribute to improving the progress of safe nursing practices and quality care.
