The PLS method in tourism research: A bibliometric approach

Resumen

Objetivos: Observar el desarrollo de la aplicación de la Modelización de Ecuaciones Estructurales por Mínimos Cuadrados Parciales (PLS-SEM), y por qué es adecuada para el desarrollo de teorías en la investigación turística, sus principales expositores tanto en autores como en países, así como las relaciones entre ellos y las palabras clave utilizadas.
Métodos: Este estudio examina empíricamente el método PLS en investigaciones sobre turismo publicadas entre 2000 y 2020 en las bases de datos Web of Science (WoS), utilizando los términos "PLS" y "tourism". Se utilizó el software de revisión bibliométrica Rstudio, aplicando los paquetes "Bibliometrix" y "Biblioshiny".
Resultados: Se muestra el aumento de las publicaciones en los últimos años, siendo en 2014 cuando comienza el aumento exponencial, el país con mayor producción de artículos científicos es España, mientras que la universidad más prolífica es la Universidad Sains de Malasia, así como la clasificación de los autores por los distintos índices o por su producción a lo largo del tiempo, también se cuenta con las relaciones que existen entre palabras clave, autores y universidades, para concluir con un mapa de calor de la investigación a nivel mundial
Conclusiones: Las principales conclusiones del presente estudio son que existe un claro incremento en el uso de la técnica PLS-SEM en la investigación turística, donde España es el país que más publica sobre el tema, no disponiendo de revistas especializadas en este tema, y donde se muestran los principales autores y los diferentes índices de clasificación de los mismos.
