The PLS method in tourism research: A bibliometric approach

Resumo

Objectivos: Observar o desenvolvimento da aplicação de Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), e porque é adequado para o desenvolvimento teórico na investigação turística, os seus principais expositores tanto em termos de autores como de países, bem como as relações entre eles e as palavras-chave utilizadas.
Métodos: Este estudo examina empiricamente o método PLS na investigação em turismo publicado entre 2000 e 2020 nas bases de dados da Web of Science (WoS), utilizando os termos "PLS" e "turismo". Foi utilizado o software de revisão bibliométrica Rstudio, aplicando os pacotes "Bibliometrix" e "Biblioshiny".
Resultados: Mostra o aumento de publicações nos últimos anos, sendo em 2014 quando começa o aumento exponencial, o país com maior produção de artigos científicos é a Espanha, enquanto a universidade mais prolífica é a Universidade Sains da Malásia, bem como a classificação dos autores pelos vários índices ou pela sua produção ao longo do tempo, também tem as relações que existem entre palavras-chave, autores e universidades, para concluir com um mapa térmico de investigação a nível mundial
Conclusão: As principais conclusões do presente estudo são que há um claro aumento na utilização da técnica PLS-SEM na investigação turística, onde a Espanha é o país que mais publica sobre o tema, não dispondo de revistas especializadas neste tema, e onde são mostrados os principais autores e os diferentes índices de classificação para eles.
