This double issue of Cadernos de Estudos Africanos presents a range of articles that analyze themes such as reconciliation and justice in post-conflict processes in Rwanda, Mozambique and Sierra Leone, as well as the strategies of social and economic reproduction that ensured the survival of populations during the Mozambican civil war and the subsequent reconstruction of the country. This issue also includes reflections on African political parties at the turn of the millennium, the relationship between the state and traditional authorities in Mozambique and the role of education both as an indicator of political transitions and as a driver of development. Other texts explore Arabi schools in Senegambia, the ethnic identity of the Handa group in Angola, the presence of Lusophony in pre-colonial Central Africa and the paradigms of Portuguese colonial Physical Anthropology.
