This article proposes an expansion of the concept of environmental music, in its relation to the contemporary concept of Environmental Art, highlighting the repertoire of Amazonian singer and composer Nilson Chaves as an example of regional environmental music in the Amazon. We propose that his music can be used in critical environmental education, that considers the interactions between nature, human beings and society, as well as the specificities of each social group. The context takes place in the state of Pará in the Brazilian Amazon, which currently faces humanitarian, environmental, and climatic crises. The method used is literature review and semi-structured and open interviews, with classical analysis of content based on Bauer, for the reconstruction of Amazonian representations in the artistic work of the musician in focus, including syntactic and semantic dimensions.
