This article discusses literacy in relation to student learning and innovation. It was instituted based on the actions of the Project “Covid-19 Pandemic and its impact on basic education in Brazil: proposals for diagnosis and intervention at school” (Edit CAPES-EPIDEMIAS-2022). It aims to discuss the results of the master's research entitled "Literatures in times of pandemic: definitions of teachers in the municipality of Mossoró/RN" and its impact on the development of the program to rescue student learning in the research area. In this sense, it is a qualitative study, of the bibliographic type, where, data generation, in addition to the bibliographic review, the process of literature analysis was used. The discussions point to the possibilities of organizing a program of renewed methods, teaching and management as strategies to innovate student learning, which can contribute to facing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the literacy and learning process.
