Abstract

In the context of swimming there is a shortage of research in relay. One of the challenges is to minimize the time of exit of the swimmer of the block with the other one that touches the wall, we focus on the study of the visual abilities in the relays, because it seems to us relevant to study on the cognitive analysis for the motor action, verifying the application of a training program of visual perception in relay. The aim of this study was to verify to what extent, with an additional training program, the technique of relay improves the reaction time. The sample consisted of 28 swimmers (N = 28) aged 16.36 ± 4.49 years. In the results on the difference time, female swimmers compared to male swimmers presented improvements for each distance of occlusion and on the difference in reaction time, the female swimmers had a positive effect on the TR after, however the male swimmers showed bigger improvements in the TR after the competition.
