Coaching & Nursing: a qualitative analysis of literature

Coaching is an interactive and interpersonal process that offers personal and professional support through the acquisition of knowledge, skills and fundamental actions for professional practice. Objective: to analyze in scientific production the use of coaching in nursing development. Method: Literature review, supported by exploratory research in databases: EBSCO | Proquest | RCAAP. 13 articles selected, submitted to the thematic analysis. Results: coaching emerges as a strategy applied by nurses in different areas: education/training, management, care and as the subject of research studies. Three coaching types were identified in the articles: peer, health and interprofessional. Conclusions: in Nursing it can be mobilized in different areas, offering an opportunity and a challenge for nurses|coaches, for their clients (patients|peers|other professionals), promoting quality improvement at individual level, level of teaching and health institutions.
