During the year 2020, Brazil was impacted by the effects of a virus that made it impossible for face-to-face classes to continue taking place nationwide. In order for students to have access to knowledge, national legislation allowed teaching to take place remotely during the pandemic period. This had repercussions for teachers using different digital technologies (DT). In order to verify how DT were being used in national teaching processes during the COVID-19 pandemic, we carried out a qualitative investigation. We interviewed 123 teachers, using a questionnaire on Google Forms, in April 2020. The analysis of the responses obtained indicated different possibilities and difficulties for teachers. Of the main difficulties pointed out, it was found that many students do not have access to TD and teachers' limitations in articulating their use in the teaching process. As for the positive points, teachers perceived opportunities to meet and use various TDs for communication in videoconferences, with those involved in educational processes, as well as the adoption of various digital resources, providing differentiated classes to students. Finally, they indicated that the use of TD in teaching will not replace the role of the teacher in face-to-face classes, especially in Basic Education, but the adoption of remote teaching in the pandemic period, will directly impact pedagogical practices in the return of face-to-face activities.
