Abstract

In this article, we intend to present a set of ideas resulting from the connection between mathematical education and theatrical languages, with an intervention approach in social education, based on the work developed by students of Social Education course at Escola Superior de Educação e Comunicação from University of the Algarve, within the scope of the curricular unit, Theater Workshop in Mathematical Literacy, integrating examples that combine mathematical concepts with theatrical practices. The methodology used in data collecting and analysis assumes an interpretative nature, using the students' productions, individually and in groups, in the context of the classes and the work carried out with a view to their evaluation. The data indicates a rediscovery, by future social educators, of mathematical concepts, always combining a perspective of social intervention, through the diversity of theatrical languages. The reinforcement of mathematical knowledge and the transformation of it into dramatic language, underlined moments of reflection and enriching sharing by future social educators on some social themes framed in their practices in community and social intervention contexts.
