The aim of this article was to analyze how armed violence in urban peripheries impacts the lives of young public school students in areas with high rates of juvenile lethality in Fortaleza, in the state of Ceará, based above all on gender and sexuality markers. Theoretically, the study is anchored in Social Psychology, but also establishes dialogues with feminist authors who problematize the marks of coloniality today. The research is quantitative and was carried out in 12 public schools on the outskirts of the capital of Ceará, with a sample of 497 students. Based on an intersectional analysis of the data obtained in the research, it emerges that cis women and LGBTQIAPN+ people face more varied forms of violence, especially sexual violence, threats and assaults, than cis men, and need to adopt multiple protection strategies. In addition, these populations also feel unsafe more often in different spaces and suffer more from the effects of violence on their educational trajectories, especially emotional interference. In this way, the research highlights that violence does not affect different populations in a uniform way, and that an intersectional approach that considers gender and sexuality inequalities is essential in policies to combat violence in order to fully understand the impact of violence on the school trajectories of public school students in urban peripheries.
