This article seeks to problematize power relations between adults and children from a theoretical framework made up of different knowledges. It critically points to the role of resentment in governing children's behavior through the use of physical punishment, highlighting the importance of children's rights in reconfiguring power relations within the family and the school institution. Considering resentment as a reactive and potentially political affect, the article also seeks to problematize the defense of physical punishment in the education of children and young people by the reactionary discourse of the extreme right. By delimiting a critique of the pedagogy of resentment, which assumes physical punishment as an indispensable resource for the education of children, it seeks to criticize the logic of command and obedience, which runs through different practices and discourses of hatred and violence in Brazilian society.
