Abstract

This article presents the results of a literature review on tutoring for online distance learning. The review finds only two dissertations that propose and evaluate professional development courses for online tutors. These researches are then summarized and compared in detail. While one of the courses focuses on the preparation of the tutor for his or her work, the other course is interested in continuing education. This work demonstrates then that there are different possibilities for the design of professional development courses for online tutoring, especially initial and continuing, and that both can be combined successfully.
