We consider that it is necessary to develop work that focuses on the values inherent to the process of creating knowledge, in order to strengthen the training of postgraduate studies scholars. This article arises from an ongoing project called “Applied Ethics and Education”. As a data collection instrument, a questionnaire was applied to a sample of 291 professors and researchers from a Mexican public university, who work in different areas of knowledge. The analysis was carried out through exhaustive reading that allowed values and other axiological elements to be recognized and classified, organized according to the percentage obtained. The results show a stable core of values: Honesty, Responsibility, Scientific Integrity, Commitment and Respect. We highlight the concern with the development of critical thinking, the view of the work of teachers and researchers as a social good and the need to continue investigating the specific ethical principles related to different disciplinary frameworks.
