Resumen

This article consists of a scientific essay on the main approaches to tourist activity, discussed analytically and systematically on a theoretical basis. This essay aims to contribute to existing knowledge based on tourism, offering discoveries, interpretations, and perspectives, to promote debate within the sector's academic community. We chose to divide the article into three categories: institutional, referring to the interpretative positioning of tourism from the perspective of national and international public institutions; the technique, whose purpose is to create practical tools for evaluation and intervention in the activity to correct its negative impacts and enhance the positive ones; and, finally, the scientific approach, dedicated to the theoretical debate that inhabits the social sciences, with emphasis on Sociology and Anthropology.
