This article presents the result of an exploratory study whose objective was to identify aspects that implied in the mathematics teacher's practice when faced with the task of teaching mathematics online, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Data collection took place through an online questionnaire provided by the SurveyMonkey platform, applied to 32 teachers working in the final years of elementary and high school in different Brazilian states (Alagoas, Bahia, Santa Catarina and Sergipe). The theoretical contributions that guide this research establish a dialogical and reflective debate about online teaching in Brazil, showing important directions regarding the teaching of mathematics in this modality. The participating teachers reveal to be the main challenge, the fragile training they have to act in the face of Digital Technologies of Information and Communication (TDIC). Consequently, the lack of interaction with students caused by their poor accessibility to internet networks. The study also signaled evidence of a new view of teachers in relation to the use of TDIC, as a contributory instrument to the teaching of mathematics, for classroom classes.
