In March 2020 the Government of Portugal announces the closure of all schools in a package of exceptional and temporary measures in response to the epidemiological situation caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and the COVID-19 disease. The pressing need for teachers to adapt to a new reality of teaching at a distance, separated from their students in space and, in some cases, also in time, through platforms and videoconferencing systems, has led to the development of practices based on a set of teaching and learning strategies, mediated by technology, with the aim of successfully completing the school year. This work presents a practical case of adaptation, planning, development and implementation of a practice based on the use of technology and some principles of distance learning, for students with specific needs, from the 2nd and 4th years of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, in a School Centre in Torres Novas. Against the backdrop of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, a solution was adopted based on the strategy defined by teachers, with the aim of ensuring learning, but also the identification and selection of digital educational resources and support systems for synchronous communication by videoconference. The procedures described helped us to arrive at the proposal presented here where a set of practices based on the strategies defined and supported by a set of resources considered as facilitators of the communication and teaching and learning process are identified, evaluated, validated and that may become part of a guide of experienced practices for identical situations.
