This article analyzes how gender permeates the relationships between institutions of Early Childhood Education and families, with a view to the care and shared education of small children. It is based on the results of a master's research done in an institution of Early Childhood Education in the city of São Paulo. The methodological procedures involve performing playful dynamics with children and semi-structured interviews involving teachers and families. The theoretical framework is based on Pedagogy Studies, Childhood Sociology and Genres that point to the construction of a democratic education, which valorization the children's participation. The results indicate that conflicts about issues of gender in Early Childhood Education can be potentiators of reflections and dialogues collectives, enabling exchanges of knowledge between different cultures, favoring a more critical look at children's rights. Build a dialogue about gender inequalities, problematizing their impact on children's lives, means to take a path that involves questions that can no longer be silenced.
