The article presents a reflection on gender issues considering the Brazilian political context, teacher training and the dialogue with educational practices witnessed in an early childhood education institution in a municipality in the northeast of Brazil. It starts from the principle that discussions about gender are important, since the construction of equality conditions for everyone from babies on implies respect for differences. It is concluded the need to include this agenda in the curricula of Early Childhood Education institutions, as well as in teacher training for early childhood as a basis for building a less sexist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic and prejudice-free reality.
