Introduction: Intraocular refractive procedures with the implantation of a Phakic Intraocular lens have become a safe efficient and predictable alternative for treating high ametropias when the use of corneal photoablative procedures is not possible. The implantation of Phakic intraocular lens preservs the accomodative function,is a reversable refractive procedure, with minimal induction of higher order aberrations compaed with corneal photoablative procedures. Methods: An analytical review of phakic intraocular lens was performed. Results: Critical issues of phakic intraocular lens indications, ancillary tests, options regading models designs, ranging, sizing , safety matters and surgicak care was discussed. Conclusion: Severl studies have demonstraded that phakic intraocular lens have a good predictability, stability and long term safetyDownloads
