Launch of the new issue of Sinais de Cena: Journal of Theatre and Performing Arts Studies
Date: June 26, 2025, 6:30 PM
Venue: Jardins do Bombarda – Cultural and Community Centre, Lisbon
This issue of Sinais de Cena - Journal of Theatre and Performance Studies aims to take a critical look at the processes of democratic construction in (pre- and post-) revolutionary periods and the role that theatre and performance played in these circumstances. Whether from a global diachronic perspective or in local micro-historical projects, the thematic dossier of Sinais de Cena, III, no. 5, seeks to offer new ways of studying the intersection between theatre, revolution and the construction of democracy.

Issue 3 of the 3rd series of Sinais de Cena - Revista de Estudos de Teatro e Artes Performativas contains a Thematic Dossier dedicated to ‘Archives and the performing arts: memory, transmission and creation’, coordinated by Maria João Brilhante. It also includes articles on various theatre studies, an interview with Sara Barros Leitão, an image section dedicated to the Teatro Experimental de Cascais, reviews of performances and books of and about the performing arts.
