Abstract

This paper presents a critical reflection about the role of the theatrical spectator in the contemporary scene. Such studies were deeply debated in the context of the Master's research carried out between the years 2017-2019 in the Postgraduate Program in Theater (PPGT) of the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) in Brazil. The studies developed rescued concepts presented by the French philosopher Jacques Rancière (2012), the German critic Hans-Thies Lehmann (2007) and the Brazilian professor Flávio Desgranges (2009), three authors whose theories were strong influences in the Brazilian artistic and educational context. It is intended to expand new possibilities for theoretical discussion about the spectator's activity in the contemporary scene. The figure of the spectator analyzed as a participative function in the theater, in which the repercussion of his activity can have impacts on the social, political, and artistic environment that surround him.
