Abstract

In the contemporary art scene there are several pedagogies that propose to mobilize, both in the public and in the artist, kinesthetic and sensory channels that awaken new forms of perception and apprehension of the self and the world. In this sense, the very notion of technique and training broadens, which leads us to Foucault (2006), when he refers to art as a place of reinvention of the artist himself, expanding the look beyond the processes of standardization of requirements and of disciplines as manufacturers of docile and productive bodies. In this way, artistic experiments incorporate strategies that inspire transformations of the self and ways of being, promoting a work of art that is also poetic, resignified and reinvented.

The fruitful territory of Somatic Education, as it will be characterized, deals with the body as a sum, giving authority to sensations and the ways in which they are perceived by each person. In this sense, we propose to explore the notions about this field and its construction as an area of knowledge, in order to arrive at a presentation on the construction of a somatic epistemology in dance. Somatics as a poetics of self-change aims at transforming the sensitive and a sharper perception of the “state of what moves us” (Fernandes, 2019 : 127).
