The Nurse as a promoter of the sexual and reproductive health in adolescence: The case of family planning

Promoting sexual and reproductive health should be one of the objectives of the nurses specialized in maternal and obstetric health nursing, particularly in its work with adolescents. To know these interventions, a scoping review was developed, with the following subject: "Which are the nursing care, within the family planning scope, that promote sexual and reproductive health in adolescents?". Three qualitative studies were selected, based on the electronic databases. The contributions of the selected articles led to identify the objectives of nursing care, under the family planning. The crucial role of this nurses was unanimous, in promoting positive visions and experiences of sexuality; in advising and helping to select contraceptive methods; in strategies to prevent unwanted pregnancies and control the fertility; in prevent the sexually transmitted infections and in promoting health among adolescents, with periodical appointments and sessions in schools.
