The general objective of the study is to analyze the “Study-reflection group: Management of Special Education in the State of Espírito Santo” (GERGEES-ES) as a training process and its contribution to the reframing of the praxis of public Special Education managers. Considering democratic management as a fundamental device for guaranteeing the rights of students targeted by Special Education, the continued training of public managers is highlighted as essential to the schooling process of this public. As an extensionist movement for continued training through collaborative-critical action research, the GERGEES-ES was created. Documentary research is used as a methodology and is based on Jürgen Habermas' theoreticalepistemological framework. The research moments were the mapping of documents related to GERGEES-ES, extracting analysis categories and mapping the Group's trajectory. This highlights the potential of the methodological perspective of collaborative-critical action research, through study-reflection groups for training activities, based on the cyclical spiral of action-reflectionaction. There is a need for continued research on the methodology of collaborative-critical action research, as well as on study-reflection groups as a route to continued training.
