2016 | Michael Storper

In 2016, the Annual Lecture of Finisterra / Finisterra Annual Lecture was held on November 28 with the theme Globalization, Nationalism and Economic Geography and was given by Michael Storper, Professor of Spatial Planning at Luskin School of Public Affairs, UCLAProfessor of Economic Geography, LSE and Professor of Economic Sociology at the Centre for the Sociology of Organisations and Political Science in Paris.

From the 150 presences we obtained 72 evaluations:

  • 8% considered the subject to be EXCELLENT;
  • 48% found the depth of the approach VERY GOOD;
  • To 60% the applicability of the theme to the professional area was considered Good / Very Good;
  • For 47% of the participants the duration of the session was considered VERY GOOD;
  • Regarding, timetable, 37% of the respondents considered VERY GOOD.

The overall appreciation of the Annual Lecture was:

  • 50% - Very Good;
  • 39% - Excellent.

Suggestions for topics in future Annual Lectures (the "Top Rated"):

  1. Cities (health, transport, innovation, urban planning, gentrification);
  2. Migration (internal and international, refugees);
  3. Climate change;
  4. Exclusion / social inequalities and territories.
