Training 2024 | The Power of Image in Science Communication
27.11.2024 | 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
IGOT – Room 2.1
The 2024 Finisterra Training Session took place on 27 November, under the theme "The power of image in science communication", led by Teresa Cabrita.
This session aimed to highlight the importance of imagery in science communication, explain how to use visual elements effectively in scientific contexts, and present key visual design principles through tools and practical exercises used to create visually appealing scientific content.
In the field of science communication, visualisation plays a crucial role in conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences. In today’s digital environment, where visual culture is boundless and average attention spans are decreasing, understanding the relevance of visualisation in scientific communication and how to use it effectively is essential. Visual elements such as images, illustrations, and photographs, along with visual design, are key components of successful science communication, as they help capture attention, facilitate scientific understanding, and engage varied audiences.
This training was intended for scientists, educators, and science communicators interested in enhancing their communication skills and engaging audiences through effective visualisation.
