Satisfaction with consultation assistance in people with rheumatoid arthritis

Introduction: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory, autoimmune, chronic and progressive disease that affects the quality of life of these patients, leading to the need for adequate health monitoring. The evaluation of user satisfaction will allow the identification of problems that require the implementation of nursing interventions in a more personalized and adjusted way.
Objectives: Assess the level of satisfaction of the person with RA with the assistance in the outpatient consultation
Methods: Descriptive analytical-correlational, cross-sectional study, with a sample of 139 people with Rheumatoid Arthritis, followed up at the rheumatology outpatient clinic of a hospital in the Central Region of Portugal. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the Tondela-Viseu Hospital Center (CHTV) Satisfaction scale were applied.
Results: 79.86% of the sample is female, with an average age of 63.05 years. It was found that in several parameters, users with RA presented a percentage of positive responses, reaching high levels of satisfaction (100%). 28.8% of respondents scored with dissatisfaction in the question "Waiting Time". User satisfaction is influenced by academic qualifications, realizing that a higher level of satisfaction is associated with a higher level of education. There was a statistically significant relationship between educational qualifications and satisfaction in the rheumatology consultation in two parameters.
Conclusion: Overall, users were satisfied with the care they were given, however, there must be an intervention and change of the “waiting time” paradigm, adopting dynamic forms of organization and management, adaptable to the idiosyncrasies of people with RA.
