Mental health and psychiatric nurse specialist interventions in the community context in people with mental illness: scoping review

Introduction: Due to the global impact of mental disorders on a person's quality of life and functionality, mental health intervention has been a priority. The presence of the Mental Health and Psychiatric Nurse Specialist (MHPNS) in community mental health teams aims to provide holistic care to prevent, promote, and optimize the person's mental health in their social context.
Objective: Map the MHPNS interventions with adults with mental illness in the community context.
Methods: Scoping Review carried out according to the PRISMA-ScR methodology, the eligibility criteria suggested by the Joanna Briggs Institute method, and the PCC mnemonic: population, concept, and context. The research was carried out on the following databases: EBSCO, Nursing Reference Center, and Google Scholar.
Results: 6 articles were included in the review. From its analysis, it appears that the interventions mapped by the review are based on cognitive-behavioral therapy. 3 themes emerged: psychoeducational interventions, especially regarding the promotion of healthy lifestyles; psychotherapeutic interventions in which the therapeutic relationship was privileged; management of adherence behavior to the medication regimen.
Conclusion: The results made it possible to identify MHPNS interventions in a community context.Greater investment is needed in publishing the results of MHPNS interventions with people with mental illness in a community context.
