Introduction: Grief has a complex definition, in which each person experiences it differently, and is associated with cultural issues, the environment in which the person is inserted, and the context of the loss itself, which also influences the way the person will experience the grief. To facilitate this process, the nurse must get to know the family and include them in the care of the newborn, establishing a relationship of trust.
Objective: Map scientific evidence on Nursing interventions for overcoming perinatal grief.
Methods: A Scoping Review was performed, following the JBI method, through research in five databases (PubMed, B-on, Cinahl complete, Medline complete, Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Expanded e Mediclatina), from November to December 2023. A total of 443 studies were analyzed through the Rayyan platform, with 170 duplicate studies detected. To assess the eligibility of the studies, the titles and abstracts were analyzed by three independent reviewers, using the reviewer blinding registration tool, and 7 final studies were included.
Results: From the analysis of the studies, four themes emerged: the feelings and emotions of bereaved parents, support from nurses, influences of religion/culture, and creation of memories.
Conclusion: From this review arises the need for training nurses in pediatric palliative care, as knowledge and understanding of different cultures, in order to facilitate the grieving process.
