Introduction: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly present in various sectors, including agriculture and tourism. In the Alto Douro Vinhateiro region, known for its wine heritage and tourism, AI adoption raises questions regarding its acceptance and impact on daily life.
Objective: To investigate the local population’s perceptions of AI applications in their daily lives, identifying the main benefits and challenges associated with its adoption in the agricultural and tourism sectors.
Methods: A mixed-methods approach was applied, combining quantitative and qualitative data collected through surveys conducted with students, tourists, and residents of the Alto Douro Vinhateiro.
Results: Findings suggest that AI is recognized for its potential in optimizing and personalizing tourism and agricultural services. However, concerns regarding data privacy, job displacement, and technological adaptation persist among the population.
Conclusion: The implementation of AI in this region requires strategies that ensure accessibility, inclusion, and community engagement to maximize its benefits while minimizing negative impacts.
