Determinantes del conocimiento, las práticas y las expectativas de los padres en el manejo de la fiebre en niños preescolares

Resumen

Introducción: Las familias están en constante interacción con el medio ambiente y esto influye en los procesos de salud/enfermedad. La fiebre es una manifestación muy común en los niños en edad preescolar, pudiendo observarse una variedad de intervenciones parentales que pueden comprometer su evolución natural.  Para perfilar documentos y protocolos de buenas prácticas es necesario conocer el estado del arte, mapeando la mejor evidencia científica.

Objetivo: Sistematizar los determinantes de conocimientos y prácticas de padres de niños en edad preescolar, ante una situación febril.

Métodos: De acuerdo con los principios metodológicos de un “Scoping Review”, propuesto por el Instituto Joanna Briggs, se definió la seguiente pregunta: “¿Qué factores determinan las practices parentales en niños preescolares respect al manejo de la fiebre?”. Para extraer los datos se utilizaron las principales bases científicas en salud, posteriormente revisadas en Rayan.

Resultados: Los 29 estudios surgidos se categorizaron en dos grupos: internos - educación, experiencia previa y formación en salud; Externo - rede sociofamiliar y acceso a la asistencia sanitaria.

Conclusión:  La literatura encontrada incluye estudios centrados en las prácticas de los equipos familiares, por ser el recurso de mayor apoyo y proximidad. Es fundamental utilizar estrategias con las familias, reconociendo sus determinantes conductuales, evitando la adopción de prácticas erróneas y el uso inadecuado de los servicios de salud. También se sugiere promover el manejo integrado de la fiebre en niños, en los diferentes niveles de atención.
