Indecências e obscenidades: as mulheres nos palcos portugueses (1774-1804)

At the end of the 18th century, the female presence on Portuguese stages oscillated between permission and prohibition. Also within the venues, female spectators had different obligations and restrictions than male audiences.
In this article, it is investigated what influence these norms had on the performers and on the public, in addition to other specific rules related to women and theater.
