Abstract

In this brief essay I propose a reflection on the work of Manuel João Gomes, a theater critic for many considered an exemplum, whose critical magisterium is presented here interspersed with the works of editor, translator and author. We will also reflect on theatre criticism in Portugal, honoring one of its most out‑ standing cultivators.
