It is the goal of the present essay to venture on an aesthetic analysis of Romeo Castellucci’s performance, Sul concetto di volto nel figlio di Dio, considering the work of Hans‑Thies Lehmann, Petra Sabisch and José Gil, among others. My focus is on the performance and the questions it raises in areas such as the study of affection and phenomenology. The essay, therefore, proposes that the “happen‑ ing” of the performance is dependent on certain mutable and live dynamics of the present bodies that produce it in symphony. Our analysis will shed light on the functioning of the fragile relationships established between stage and spectatorship and between the narrative logic of the performance and the subjective logic of its reception.
