This essay discusses the paradox of presence in animation theater, focusing on the dubious relationship between the presence of the actor-animator's body and the presence of the puppet's body or animated form, raising aesthetic and language issues, which are evidenced in hybrid forms. This approach emphasizes three perspectives: veiled presence, related to the presence of the non-visible actor-animator to the public; an empirical essay on the proximal field between body, mask and puppet; and hybrid bodies, in what concerns the relations of negotiation, composition and illusion between humans and puppets.
