This paper aims to examine the role that models of production related to work and contractual conditions play in the act of artistic creation and in the psyche of the workers involved. The status of the “independent” worker and the models for arts funding in Portugal are the background from which the topology of the artistic world emerges shaped by the hyperactive work to which its professional workers are subject.
