Abstract

The paper presents six experiences of Brazilian performance art experiences that features mask compositions and expanded masking, with reflections in light of ecological in-betweenness and ecocritical thinking. It is based on on creative observations, affective perceptions and speculative reflections from practical artistic and theoretical studies carried out by the author in performative mask playing and the relationship between performing arts and ecological issues. It points for “interacting” as an important mode of existence in performing arts during the 21st century, aiming at more-than-human scenes and performances. It indicates performative masking play as a mode of cosmocentric aesthetic mediation.
