Abstract

The article presents research results that systematized content about the process of creating, staging, and performing the play Morte e vida severina (1965), which inaugurated TUCA, the Theater of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. The qualitative research, developed through documentary analysis and oral accounts, reflected on the historical, educational, and institutional aspects that shaped the formulation of the play. This text will share a narrative about this creative process. Organized by the student movement, Morte e Vida Severina became a formative space for university students, a movement of resistance against the authoritarian regime, and it aimed to portray a historical moment and the ethical-political commitment of students and professionals to Brazilian reality.
