A IMPORTÂNCIA DA APRENDIZAGEM COOPERATIVA NO ENSINO DAS CIÊNCIAS

This study aimed to investigate if the activities using cooperative learning developed in a class of the 5th grade, in the context of supervised teaching practice, influenced students’ learning. The results obtained revealed that students acquired knowledge and developed social and cognitive skills through the cooperative learning method. However, it is necessary to carefully prepare and develop group work, not only as joint work but as a source of learning and knowledge sharing among peers. In the course of the activities, students revealed difficulties in the organization and functioning of the group. This could be related to the fact that they are not accustomed to working in groups, as the interview analysis indicates. The difficulties were reduced by the internalization of the assigned roles and the students were modifying their behavior.Abstract
O estudo efetuado teve como objetivo investigar se as atividades promotoras de aprendizagem cooperativa desenvolvidas numa turma do 5.º ano de escolaridade, no contexto da prática de ensino supervisionada em Ciências Naturais, influenciaram as suas aprendizagens. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que os alunos conseguiram adquirir conhecimentos e desenvolver competências sociais e cognitivas através do método de aprendizagem cooperativa. Todavia, é necessário preparar cuidadosamente os alunos e desenvolver o trabalho de grupo, não só como mero trabalho em conjunto, mas também como uma fonte de aprendizagens e partilha de conhecimentos entre os pares. No decorrer das atividades detetaram-se dificuldades por parte dos alunos ao nível da organização e funcionamento do grupo. Pensa-se que isto se deveu ao facto de não estarem habituados a trabalhar em grupo, conforme indica a análise das entrevistas. As dificuldades foram amenizando com a interiorização dos papéis atribuídos e os alunos foram modificando o seu comportamento.
