FINISTERRA'S EDITORIAL STATUS

Finisterra – Revista Portuguesa de Geografia , a scientific publication founded in 1966, is a triannual edition of the Centre of Geographical Studies at the University of Lisbon.

Finisterra publishes unpublished texts devoted to scientific research in Physical and Human Geography, Environmental Risks, Regional and Local Planning, Spatial Planning, Regional and Local Development, Geographic Information Sciences, among other topics in the social sciences.

Finisterra is a privileged platform for early-stage career and senior researchers, as well as university students and planning professionals. The journal publishes in Portuguese, as well as in English, Spanish and French. Each article includes the title, abstract and keywords in four languages, figure titles and pictures in two languages.

The journal issues, thematic and non-thematic numbers, entrusted to accredited researchers from their respective areas of expertise (guidelines for reviewers), under the scrutiny and approval of the Editorial Team. All collaboration is subjected to a demanding selection and review process based on double-anonymous scientific arbitration.

The acceptance of manuscripts for publication is regulated by criteria of relevance, interest and scientific quality, respecting the plurality of perspectives. Finisterra assumes itself as independent of any political, ideological or economic power, and is guided by criteria of rigor, exemption and inclusion.

Committed to ensuring the highest standards of publication ethics, the Finisterra Editorial Team bases its Code of Ethics in the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, March 2011 version). This code defines the responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication of Finisterra.

From its inception to the present day, Finisterra is published in print and is available on open access through the RCAAP platform at https://revistas.rcaap.pt/finisterra. It is  available in digital format the norms for the presentation and publication of articles and an annual list of reviewers in the scientific refereeing of manuscripts.
